Background
Those who knew RMAF founder Al Stiefel remember him for his spirit of inclusiveness and his passion for high quality sound. As one person put it, “… And that is what Al had made of all of us, friends, a community of great people who happen to be music lovers.”
In remembrance of Al, his wife, Marjorie Baumert, has decided to honor his life and his passion for music by donating an exhibitor room at this year’s Festival. “I think we could all agree that a large part of Al’s legacy was his inclusiveness and ability to welcome newcomers into the RMAF fold. He loved to champion the underdog with the great idea and applauded those who had the vision and bravery to take a chance. He really did celebrate sound in so many ways! Beginning this year, I would like to donate a room to a new manufacturer with an innovative product, or one who simply needs a little help this year. In future years, I hope those who are able will contribute to this effort. This year, though, it’s my gift to Al’s memory.”
RMAF 2009 will host the first annual Legacy Room in Al’s honor. The ideal candidate is a manufacturer, reseller or retailer that has an innovative product and would greatly benefit by achieving a foothold through an RMAF appearance, or a past exhibitor who may not have the means to exhibit this year.
If you would like to nominate a potential exhibitor, or apply yourself, click here for an application form. Please complete the form and submit it by June 15, 2009. The final selection will be made by members of the Colorado Audio Society, and the winner will be notified by July 1, 2009 via e-mail.
January 2009
We at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest mourn the sudden loss of co-founder Al Stiefel. A dynamic presence in the industry, Al passed away on January 27, 2009.
In honor of Al’s passion for music and audio technology, the 2009 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest will go on as scheduled under the direction of Al’s wife, Marjorie Baumert, with guidance from an advisory board, the Colorado Audio Society, and friends. To ensure the stability of this popular and growing event, the hotel, shipper and staff remain the same as in past years.
We understand that Al and Marjorie have touched many lives, but request that expressions of sympathy exclude telephone calls. Office operations will resume on Monday February 23, 2009.
